Question

As-salamu `alaykum. I am breastfeeding my child who is ten months old, and I am now pregnant. Should I stop breastfeeding because of pregnancy or should I continue to breastfeed despite the fact that I am pregnant? Is breastfeeding a child whilst pregnantharam(unlawful) orhalal(permissible)? I hope that you can answer my question as soon as possible.

Dear sister in Islam, thanks a lot for your interest in Islam and its teachings. We really appreciate your question which shows how far you are interested in adhering to the Shari`ah. May Allah save us all from the traps of Satan and enlighten our hearts with the light of Islam!
Concerning the question of breastfeeding a baby during pregnancy, it should be clear that Islam aims at achieving the welfare and goodness of all people. So, a pregnant woman has to consult a reliable and trustworthy physician, and then act according to his instructions.
In response to the question in point, Sheikh M. S. Al-Munajjid, a prominent Saudi Muslim lecturer and author states:
“The question of breastfeeding during pregnancy should be referred to a capable and trustworthy doctor. If he says that breastfeeding the child will not harm the fetus or the nursing infant, then there is no reason not to do so and it is permissible.
However, if it will harm your child or the fetus, then do not breastfeed him.”

Walaupun kita tahu BOLEH kadang-kadang tersentap juga kalau ada orang yang kita kenal disalahkan kerana menyusukan anak ketika hamil..konon membawa padah kepada anak yang dikandung…

selagi tidak memudaratkan tiada halangan…
